Once your card has been scanned, the account number will auto-populate, which speeds up the process. After your card has been scanned, you’ll have to manually input your CVV, date of birth and last four digits of your Social Security Number into their respective fields.

Citi customers can now activate a new credit card simply by taking a photo of it. A new feature, which launched today, Citibank Card Activation allows card members to activate a Citibank card in-app by using the camera from his or her mobile device to scan the card number.

While this might not seem like that big a deal, Citibank Card Activation scanning your card is definitely quicker than manually typing the card number during the activation process. Next time your new Citi Prestige, Citi ThankYou Premier Card or other Citi card comes in the mail, consider taking advantage of this new perk.
